On 29^th August, 2017 the Seminar on the Investment and Trade Cooperation between Yunnan Province and Diplomatic Envoys Delegation from Countries along the Belt and Road was held in Kunming. The sponsor organization is China-Arab Exchange Association. The undertaking organizations are China Kunming Southeast & South Asia International Logistics Institute(SSILR) and Yunnan Hu-Dian Cooperation and Promotion Association. Surrounding the topics on “The Belt and Road” interconnection construction, energy and power development cooperation, infrastructure construction, tourism and agricultural cooperation, diplomatic envoys from Bahrain, Yemen, Iran, Djibouti, Slovakia and other countries have discussed all of them with Yunnan enterprises and think tanks. During the meeting, Yunnan Ji Mei Ai Philharmonic Orchestra has made one wonderful national cultural and artistic performance for the foreign guests.

    During the meeting,diplomatic envoys from countries along “The Belt and Road” countries including Rotating Corps Leader of Diplomatic Corps to China of Gulf Cooperation Council and Bahrain Ambassador to China Mr. Anwar Yusuf Abdulla Alabdulla, Yemen Ambassador to China Mr. Mohamed Othman Almekhalfi, the Djibouti Charge D’Affaires to China Mr. Kadar Robleh Kadieh, the Slovakia Ambassador to China Mr. Bella Dusan and others have presented their opinions about Chinese companies participating in the economic and trade cooperation in the area of infrastructure, tourism, industrial parks, finance, agriculture, logistics and others. It was specifically proposed by Bahrain Ambassador to China Mr. Anwar Yusf Aladulla that he hoped to establish Sister City between Manama, the capital city of Bahrain, and Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan. Mr. Qin Yong, the Executive Vice President, and Mr. Li Ming, the Vice President of the China-Arab Exchange Association has presented the location advantage of Yunnan in “The Belt and Road” construction and business opportunities in economic and trade cooperation. Mr. Chen Xinhui, the Secretary-general of China-Arab Exchange Association has addressed on the Business Opportunities For Postwar Reconstruction in Syria. Mr. Liu Jinxin, Consultant by the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation in the UNDP, has presented that in Yunnan cross-border financial cooperation we should learn from these Islamic financial rules such as prohibiting speculation and high liabilities, and we should also encourage the investing behavior through risks and rewards to take the social responsibilities together; the oil and gas pipelines program between China and Myanmar could provide chances for Yunnan enterprises to go out to the Middle East areas to start the energy development cooperation; we had many advantages in joining in ports construction, oil and gas development, agricultural, tourism, medicines and other industries in Middle East areas. Mr. Cui Huanxing, President of Yunnan Hu-Dian Cooperation and Promotion Association, has expressed his support to carry out import and export of agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables between Yunnan agricultural companies and Middle East countries.

   During the meeting, Yunnan Intercontinental Trains Limited Company has said that the China-Europe Railway Containers Line from Kunming had the advantages to cooperate with Slovakia. Yunnan Yixiang Trade Company has said that Yunnan ecological Pu’er tea would have a very good market at Middle East areas. Yunnan Energy Investment Group has started to focus on the energy and electricity market in Arabic countries. Yunnan Tongyong Pharmaceutical Company would promote the export of Yunnan Herbal Medicines in Europe and Middle East. China Export Credit Insurance Company would provide policy-based financial supporting services for enterprises in overseas investment.

    On this meeting, all the participants have got the consensus that establishing the Yunnan along the border financial comprehensive reform pilot has provided very good opportunities to Yunnan local financial organizations and enterprises to take part in the cross-border financial cooperation with the nations along the Belt and Road especially with the Middle East nations. Most Chinese enterprises have shown their intentions to join in the post-war reconstruction in Syria.  If Chinese enterprises want to join in the infrastructure construction, industrial zones development, energy trade and other businesses in Syria, Iraq, Iran and other Middle East countries, they should form one union combined with industrial associations, think tanks, law firms, banks, insurances and other financial organizations to maintain the investment interests of Chinese enterprises and personal safety of Chinese citizens. And all the participants have suggested that Chinese government should support to form the local oil and gas trade companies and non-governmental security companies and encouraged them to start the international businesses.

    China-Arab Exchange Association and China Kunming South and Southeast Asia International Logistics Research Institute has gotten the consensus that they would provide policy support and think tank services for Yunnan enterprises in investment and economic and trade cooperation with the Arabic public or private organizations.
